Not quite a Piano lesson experience, but close enough, hopefully gives you a laugh 😆
It was 1964/65 In England, I was around 11/12 years old.
Beatlemania was at its peak, my mum had got our first B&W TV and Top of the Pops was on The BBC television weekly.
I wanted to play the guitar!!!, my grandad managed to get an old acoustic jazz type (f-hole) guitar that nobody wanted at the old country auction market that he helped out at.
Living in a small country town, there weren't many 'Beatlemania' guitar teachers around 😁 so my mum found a retired lady who taught piano at her house.
So excited, I set off on my bicycle after School for my first lesson, starting to tell the lady all about the Beatles and Top of the Pops and I wanted to play guitar. I don't think she had a TV, or didn't watch those programs, she didn't say much, just sat me down in front of a sheet of Music Scale notation/score sheet and then played her piano and somehow tried to explain to me where the note would be on my guitar.
I'm sure she was well intentioned, but after a few visits I just gave up.
I only got into guitar in my later adult years, starting off learning a few chords and then found out about TAB sheets for guitar which is a simple way but still just sight reading.
Now in my senior years, I've found Piano Picnic and have learnt more about music than I thought possible. I'm having so much fun learning how to be a Creative Pianist 😃👍
