You ladies are just terrific. I've caught up on both the goals and you've both done brilliantly.
@Bev those goals sound really good - the smaller goals are well broken down - especially those specifics (like playing Irish Washer Woman & Mobile Stomp). A tip for remembering the chord inversions you come up with - right the inversions on the score in pencil - just like you would a slash chord - so if you are playing an F major chord in first inversion, you can write a little F/A, since A is the bottom note.
This is a little different to usual slash chords (where the /A is talking about the bass note) but it still works.
@alexx88 now that you've set the big kahuna goal (it's a goody!) and the medium -write them down and FORGET ABOUT THEM. Choose the first small goal/s to focus on and plug away at those.
Now that you have both set the big goal and done the work on breaking it down, it's time to stop thinking about them so much – how unrealistic they are, how long it will take, how it seems like we'll never get there... those questions are taken care of because of the planning stages you've done. So now put those goals aside somewhere (so you can look when you need some bigger picture thinking) but just focus on the next small thing. Going from small goal to small goal, the big goal will take care of itself!
So for @Bev that's slowing down, remembering chord inversions and find 2 new riffs to play in each of those two songs (IWW & MS) for @alexx88 it's choosing and beginning 1 song to learn by ear, revisit 3 old songs (and maybe apply your toolbox of riffs to them) and the improv - perhaps you might want to set aside practise time into 3 sections: by ear, by memory, by improv. 5 minutes each!
Thank you for sharing! :🤩
