What is catching your ear at the moment - what do you really want to learn?

Or what gaps are there in your ability that you've become aware of that you want to work on? It could be a topic, a style of playing, it could be a particular artist that you want to deep dive on their songs, or something you are struggling with, or something you're dreaming about getting really good at!
No answer is too big or too small, let's get some brainstorming going! 🤝

Making things my own & playing freely, either with or without sheet music or a lead sheet to use as a reference. And doing it quickly & “off the cuff,” is a big want for me. Also honing my ear skills beyond figuring the melody & bass line to quickly deciphering chords replicating the feel if a song, especially if it’s not a “piano” song.

A couple of things I’d like to tackle in the future are Hotel California by the Eagles & My Immortal by Evanescence. .

I find it hard to find balance between percussive and melodic playing (i.e., when improvising). I want my improv sessions to produce pleasant sounds without getting boring or sounding too much like (an entirely chordal) vocal accompaniment.

Awesome you guys! So both improv / playing off the cuff - but also a step further with playing by ear @alexx88
I definitely want to do a proper improv training soon - I think we have a couple similar topics planned before the year is out (in the monthly coachings) and a Songs by Ear part 2 is certainly on the cards for next year! 😁

I am super keen to dig deeper into these topics that we've had an introduction already, but need to get more detailed and maybe a little more serious about (in a fun way!)
